Black Copper Marans

What is the date for the show ? I am sure the eggs would look great in my incubator (that has been going all winter).

Nivtup. dont worrie i am not trying to get any money back. As a new owner of BCM i am just trying to figure this out. I only hatched these eggs to get the incubator up and running. I think i have some of the same questions a lot of new marans owners have. wow how did this happen? i have been doing a lot of reading on this and see that it does happen. i have also been doing some research on what roo's to breed to my hens. I am in the learning stage and have lots to learn. i tell ya this is a lot more thinking than my barred rocks lol. anyway i am going to keep with it. I think i am going to keep these birds and play with them. as soon as the weather breaks i will try to get some pics of the parent stock. i am also going to include a new pic of the chick.

My BCMs seem to have a lot of the common problems that pop up. I thought about trying to start over but I figure I would just get more of the same so I may as well work with what I have. I am happy with the egg color I have so there's that. Some of the eggs I see for sale don't look any darker than any common layer type brown egg.

John, I agree with AmazonDoc. Your chick doesn't look like any of my Wheaten chicks. Maybe a blue???

How about a blue Wheaten? How rare is that?

I've never seen one.

I think it would be mighty rare to get both blue and wheaten at the same time out of a flock of BCs......but it could be a splash copper or maybe a light blue copper. Or maybe some roo jumped a fence. It isn't a wheaten, though, so forget that idea.

Post more pics for us when it feathers out!
