Black dry rooster comb

My rooster had some frostbite plus some fowl pox a while back. Now it looks like this. Is this just really bad frostbite or really bad pox? Anyone know what I can do for him?

That is bad frostbite, and he will loose the black part of the comb. It takes weeks or months for it to slough off. You can leave it alone, apply some Bag Balm to it to discourage pecking because it will bleed, especially if he bangs it against a feeder or waterer, or cover his eyes and spray it with BluKote.

You're welcome, and yes a lot of us have seen frostbite up close for the first time this year. Two of my roosters were affected, but not nearly as bad as yours. Ventilation up high in the coop to let out moisture helps to prevent it, but the cold this year was so bad. Good luck.
