Black Jack 57 Question

Hi all, I have decided to use Black Jack 57 on the floor of my coop. My question is, can I use it on the roof? I am going to shingle the coop, I purchased felt roofing paper. Can I use 57 over the plywood instead of the paper? Just thinking that I can return the roll of paper and use the 57 since I'm sure I will have a bunch leftover from the floor.

You may have an issue at the seams (if any). I used BJ57 on my drop boards (1" by 6") and it is not "thick" enough to seal the cracks between the boards. You could avoid this issue by using caulking and then applying the BJ57. From my experience it is sufficient to seal the wood and therefore should shed any rain/water without leaks as long as there is a slope that encourages drainage.

OP: As I used it strictly for floor I actually don't know how it works as a roofing compound. I'd look at the data sheet for the product to see how it's intended for use in roofing applications.

I used two coats on rough cut 1" by 6" pine. I did not feel the gaps between boards were excessive but not like planed "big box" lumber.

Ditto to your comment about reading the data sheet although I believe it is intended for outdoor use and therefore should be UV resistant.
