Howdy! This past June, i purchased 3 straight run Black Jersey Giant chicks. It has now been six weeks since i got them, and all 3 seem to be pullets. They all have the same, smaller size of comb/waddles, and altogether look very similar . Does this mean that all 3 of them are pullets? Or are Jersey Giants a slower developing breed, as I've occasionally heard about? Any feedback will be great, and i hope to have pics of all 3 up by sometime today.

By 6 weeks my straight run BJG have usually become different enough to think they are different genders. One thing that is distinct at this age on ours has been leg thickness. The males have very thick legs as compared to the females.

They are a slower to mature breed, however the males will look distinctly different than the females by 4 months old. In my experience males don’t crow at all until later than other breeds.
