In both sets of eggs I've hatched - from different chickens - I've always got that one egg that has a random black Dot that moves around. It's not an embryo, I think. It never seems to develop. What is it?

Video here.

Speaking of black masses, how about this one? It's below the air bubble. The pictures weren't coming out well, so I've marked where it is. The top line is the air bubble. The black mass is in-between the two lower lines. It gets lighter below the bottom line again. I've never seen an egg develop like that. It's very visible iniperson. Any ideas?

Can't see anything in pic.
What day is egg in video?
Sometimes there are blood spots in egg, that maybe what you are seeing.

They should be a week old tomorrow. The others I can see development in clearly. The other egg I had that developed the black Dot was also less than a week, and never developed.

I'll see if I can get a better picture when it's darker.

I'd just keep an eye on it.
Recently read a thread about an egg with a big blob, it hatched fine, blob was a blood clot.

This one is alive, but shows the dark ring like in the other one.

I'm thinking maybe the black Dot is a developing embryo? A very young one?

Also thinking this one has a wonky air cell. I have two like that. Going to wait longer to confirm.

Also, air cells. Should they be very wobbly this young? I've never candled a day old egg so I can't compare.

Nope, I'd guess blood/meat spot.

No, they should be small and tight at fat end of egg.
Where did you get eggs?
I always candle and trace air cells the day I put egg into bator.

I hadn't even heard of those before, thanks!

I got them for another member here. I have several with wobbly air cells, but they're developing fine. Is there anything special I should do for the wobble?

Blood spots are when tiny blood vessels break off when the ova is released, meat spots are tiny pieces of tissue that slough off the reproduction tract. Fairly common, not sure how they might affect hatching.

Shipped eggs often have detached air cells.
Do a search on those, I've never dealt with them.

But here's bunch of reading on hatching:
