I went back and looked at the parents photos real close and I do believe I see some barring on the underside hiding! This is a reliefI would say, with abut a 99.9% certainty, that you have Barred Muscovy. It's a recessive gene (like the example given above) so can show up unexpectedly. Genetics are so interesting!
The sad part about this gene is that they will lose most of the beautiful barring after their first major moult. Mine looks mostly like a black Muscovy now.![]()
Oh, and it can be carried in ALL the colour forms Muscovy come in.

I remember having barred Muscovy when I very first started with them but I haven’t had any since and I never (back then) paid attention to the color of the ducklings too much since they were more pets than anything. Now that I think about it there was this one duckling my kids and I fell in love with. It was all yellow but with a darker tail.
