Black Mystery Chicken from McMurray - 7 weeks

I got a Free Mystery chick from McMurray. From how she looked as a chick I thought Black Australorp, but I expected her to be heavier like my Marans, but she seems smaller like my EEs.

Also, what color would you say those EEs are?
They have red necks and brownish black bodies.

One more thing, in Cuckoo Marans, the males are lighter, Right? So I think of the five, only one is Female.

She looks Australorp.This breed is not so big like Orpington.Marans are fastgrouers and biger.

My australorpe stayed small for a long time, too. Does she have white foot pads under those black legs? That is an Aust. trait.

That looks like my Black Jersey Giant. Defenately a Black Jersey Giant.

Looks like an Australorp, if the foot pads are pink or whitish its an australorp. If the foot pads are yellow you are the proud new owner of a Jersey giant. I raise both and they look very similar. I have blue zip ties on my Lorps and Orange on my Giants so when they run by I know who is what!!!!

What color is that earlobe? I can't quite tell. It looks dark, but it doesn't exactly look red...

I've got a black andalusian, black minorcas, and a black australorp all from McMurray. My andalusian and minorcas all were of a slighter build, like your bird, while my australorp was definitely heavier from the beginning.

My black andalusian has white earlobes, with a black wash over them. They almost look purple.

My black minorcas have very white earlobes.

My black australorp has very red earlobes.

A Sumatra maybe? Looks like she carries herself too high and light to be an australorp (my 21 wk pullets are fat, round and fluffy). Australorps and giants aren't on their rare list anyway.

Diamond J!!! We have a horse that looks exactly like your Avatar! I'll try to post a pic, his name is Peppermint. He is very special to us, we had his mother for 13 years. She raised my two girls and died of a heart attack/failure June 13. We still mourn her. Now, I'll look at your chick. HenZ
