OK, she didn't like it much, but I caught her, and looked at her foot pads. They are pale white.
Her ear lobes are like a pale color with a blackish overlay. At 7 weeks, Her comb hasn't pinkished up, and her earlobes are the same pale color, but with an extra overlay of black. I think the earlobe will go pink when the comb does, but not sure.
Hey, Jossanne, did your black andalusian have white foot pads?
Did anyone's Australorp have a black overlay on the lobe at 7 weeks?
I've heard of some people getting an EE as a mystery chick, hardly Rare or Exoctic. I called them and they said could be any chicken in the catalog.
So narrowed down to Australorp or Andalusian
She didn't look like the chick picture of the Sumatra as a day old.
She didn't have the yellow around the eyes like the photo of the day old Minorcas, either.
Both Australorp and Andalusian are single combed, so no help there, although Andalusian is much taller. Also, maybe her fame looks more Andalusian-y. She is the flightiest of all my chicks, despite the most handling. Australorps are supposed to be very docile.
hummm, well I guess I'll know when she lays, as Andalusians lay white eggs, and Australorps lay brown.
Lotzahenz, Sorry to hear of your loss. I am located in Needville, TX (near Houston)
