Black Orpington -vote- Gender at 7 weeks? *alot of photos*

I see rounded neck feathers, which says hen. But then I see thick roostery lookin' legs....

Edited, I changed my mind. I think it's a roo!!

The main reason I am thinking roo is because of the elongated feathers on the back

I've raised Orpingtons for 8 years now, comb, wattle and no tail growth at 7 weeks its a cockerel! Not all cockerels develop at the same rate.

looks like a cockerel to me too! mine looked like that at that age and at 12 weeks now have tail feathers starting and a lovely green sheen to their saddle feathers. Beautiful bird and very placid so far ( fingers crossed they stay that way would like to keep both)

I'm going to vote cockerel. I've noticed that often the comb on pullets comes up to a high point in the back, even on those with a larger comb, while on the fellows it often starts the middle-curve arch earlier, even in cases where it doesn't redden or accompany early wattles. This shape gives one more thing to look for, and this little guy is screaming "boy" to me.
