Black scabby crud on my mounting rir

I have a rir hen that seems to be going thru a moult is the black scabbies on her comb and beek a result of the moult?

No. I would say the most likely things are pecking injuries, or she has found something sharp, maybe a wire sticking out of a fence, that she is injuring herself on. The mark on her beak looks like one they sometimes get ifyou have one of thouse trough metal feeders with the round holes, and a hole happens to have a sharp edge -- which has happened to others. The spots on the comb could be fowl pox, but that's unlikel this time of year as fowl pox comes from mosquitoes, and they would all have it.
 
I agree with Judy that it could be peck wounds, except it may be fowl pox if you live in Alabama and still have mosquitoes. Sometimes it first looks bloody in some cases, but in others it can look beige or light brown turning into dark brown scabs. There is a lot of variance in what pox looks like, I assume due to different or more potent strains of pox. Thanks for the info later this afternoon after posting I did watch my rooster peck at her head. So I kinda thought that's what's up, but thanks for the info I will read up on it
