They are a deliberate cross between a Rhode Island Red male and barred Rock female. The male offspring have a white dot on their heads and the female offspring are solid black. The chicks do not have to be vent sexed, they can be sexed by down color.
No. The sex linkage only works for the first cross.Is black sex-link's offspring sex-linked? Like if a BSL hen and a BSL rooster had a chick, would it be sexed?
Most hatcheries have them. Ideal, McMurray, Cackle, Hoover, and Mt Healthy all have them. Meyer doesn't have black sex links, but they do have red sex links.Also, are BSL a certain hatchery' special breed? Meyer didn't have them but Mcmurray did
