Black sexlinks/Red sexlinks

You could get some red chicks, but the extended black genes from the barred grandmother are dominant. Some of the chicks would look like your black sexlink hens. But you won't be able to tell males from females until they are older.

Thanks to you and Michael, appreciate your knowledge. As for being able to sex them at hatching, that's not a concern of mine (should've mentioned that). I just wanted to know what I'd likely get. I know what I'll get with him and the other breeds I have but was curious when they hatched who's who due to all being brown egg layers. Just a trial by fire thing and see what they turn out as. If anyone has crossed a RIR roo with BSL, I'd love to see a couple of photos as a chick and adult.

Thanks again guys.

You're welcome.

All hybrids will throw back to the original blood strain in one way or another. Its just the way the genes run. Its the same with humans genes. People say Gee he looks like his great uncle. If you breed in the right sequence you can breed back to the original blood strain. This is done by breeding first cousins with third & fifth cousins & so on, but not in humans. Each clutch of eggs are brothers & sisters. The next clutch are considered as cousins. That is how the Japanese bred different colours with the budgerigars, they originally are green & yellow in the wild here in Australia.
This is some worth information for me. Makes a lot of sence.
For example with sex links, I had seen like true Rhode Island Red looking offsprings in internet. Thats why I call my sex link roosters RIR blooded.
Then for example if I would hatch a lot of eggs of one hen, mostly I get almost exactly looking chicks, but few are like hens brother, which have one father with hen but different mothers.
This year I got one hen, from who I got 21 offsprings this year, 3 was planned, I put those eggs under her, cause he was broody, 18 other she hatched, by herself, in good shelter in hay barn.

So, If I would make lot of offsprings with my Vorwerk rooster to random hen, I could get someday, something similar to: Lakenvelders, Orpingtons, Andalusian blues, whos are in Vorwerk blood. ya?

Im very interested in this 'thread'.
