black shoulder X IB

India Blues do have a few black feathers on there wings but they will not get more. But like I said my Purple male is split blackshoulder because I bred him that way and know who his parents are, If you know what to look for you can tell if they are split blackshoulder or not my male has a lot more brown on the wings then the barred wing does. But it looks like us breeders with 10 plus years in peafowl need to find another forum that don't have as many experts so we can try and help people that needs it. I am by no means an expert and if there is something I don't know I don't answer

Sometimes I think posters forget the wealth of knowledge that some bring to the discussion. Some of the people here have done this for a long time and have had hundreds if not thousands of birds come through their pens. We haven't gotten that far yet, but have been mentored by some of the best and have a passion for these great birds.

Please dont get hostile next time. I am still fairly certain that birds which are split black shoulder do not show the gene at all. My India Blue males which are not split BS both have dark feathers on there wings and I do not think there is any difference between Ib and IB split BS. Also, I am fifteen, I would say that my knowledge is very good for a fifteen year old, and I am not clueless when it comes to raising peafowl, I could tell just by looking at them that they were not as big as they should be.

Okay DMfarm sent me a nice PM and even Brad Legg thinks that split BS birds show some extra black so I am wrong. So I have decided to post my two India Blue boys and see if one is split one has more black.
Here they are

Thank you

I think he looks normal to me and not split...
I was hopping my pied peacock Dragon is split to blackshoulder, it is hard to tell since he has so much white on his wings but I can make out a few feathers up high on his shoulder that are black that don't look like the striped kind, so I can only hope he is a split!

Okay here is a picture, you can just make out a few dark feathers on the shoulder in the middle of all the white and the ends have a slight blue shine:

Maybe I am just being hopeful and those feathers don't mean anything but I just find it strange that some dark feathers lined in blue are that high up on his wing.
