Black Silkie Roosters hackle color question

Do all black silkies roosters have this color hackle feathers or is it possible to get a solid black rooster?

Black silkies shouldn’t have that color leakage on their hackle feathers. You can for sure fund pure black silkies without any leakage

That's leakage.. and a quality issue with regards to breeding.. so yes, it's possible to have a solid black Silkie rooster without the leakage.

Still, very cute.. I love the blue earlobes!

Ok, thank you both. I have never had one without the leakage. I am searching for a breeder now.

You can get black silkies with out the leakage. Your Silkie could be a product of white and black crossing or just bad genetics.

I have had leakage pop up in offspring when none of the breeding stock was displaying it and they were NOT crossed with another color. Hatch enough and you may see a lot! It didn't/doesn't show up until they've reached a certain age, in my experience. I cannot make out from the pictures if he has a correct walnut comb.

@Amer @NatJ would you be able to tell the op.. if they worked with the rooster they have.. how easy or difficult would it be to get offspring without the leakage and then choose a next generation sire from there? TIA
