Black silkies

Hi everyone. I think I may have finally hatched a black chick. It looks much darker than the dark blues I have hatched and in the pic you can see the brown undercoat. Do you think I finally have a black chick?!?!

I had a black silkie we named Raven when I got my first 9 chicks. She was as black as my border collie's coat, not a touch of grey or red. Regrettably, she chose to sit in the lowest point of the run during a heavy rain and did not move the 12 inches to 3 feet to the right that would have saved her like all the others did (everyone else, except for her sister Smokey, got into the A-frame coop.). From what we could tell, she and my grey silkie Stormy (then named Smokey) simply stayed and drowned there. We were able to revive Stormy who made a full recovery, but it was too late for Raven. It was a real shame because she was shaping up to be a gorgeous bird.

Here's my trio of Blacks. My boy is from Karen at Catdance Silkies and my girls are from Aimee at Signature Farm
I took these pics shortly after I got my boy from the PO and he was NOT happy! I wanted to check him out so snapped some quick photos. My girls are coming out of a molt so they'll be filling out much more. I couldn't get them to be still at all!!

He's tryin to hide behind his ladies lol

I spent the weekend reading this entire thread. Boy, did I learn a lot! I am very excited about a new black cockerel I got this fall and have begun to hatch out my first black chicks from him. I am watching to learn from everyone else.
