Black spots on comb... What is it?

My rooster gets the black spots on the comb when it turns cold. I have been keeping their food wet in the house, it is the fermenting the food overnight. Nutrition is more available to them when it is fermented. His black spot has gone. I thing it is a nutrition issue.

I just noticed the same thing on my rooster today. Identical. He had mites before. I am going to get him and do the vaseline treatment. I hope it works. I have the white halo too. Last time I cleaned out the coop entirely. Took out all old hay in boxes, washed everything down with a hose, changed dirt and put down fresh straw for flooring. That was 4 months ago. Then tonight I see the black spots. I don't know what they are, but I'm following the same procedure...again. Keep me posted...

Actually he got pretty well beat up by the other roosters after I applied some ointment that was recommended by another member. He is now outside the run until he heals. A photo at this point would not actually show up the black spots because his entire comb is bruised! He is active and meets me at the back door, which lets me know he is not in pain. Thanks!
