Black spots on comb?

Here is a picture, not the best, but it shows some gouges on my young BR rooster's comb when the Big Guy, Hawkeye, started chasing him. There's even a spot on the wattle in addition to the comb. Wish I had a better one of simple peck marks, but I don't usually takes pics of damaged combs, LOL:

***I'm not saying it isn't Fowl Pox, but I'd investigate less serious explanations first before you panic.

Yes. I hope it is just dried blood. My poor Foggy looks so peaked. I am about to get off and go check on him. He was a little hoarse recently but his crow is getting better.

Good luck with your bird, *crosses fingers for blood spots*.

I panicked once when I saw my silkie's roo's head coverd in black scab and one of his eyes wouldn't open. I took him in, gave him a bath, and it all melted away! Getting it out of the deep folds in his comb was a pain, His eye opened up and he was fine. Turned out he got his comb caught some how on something and he split it about 3/4 of an inch across in the middle where the natural crease is. Blood pooled up on his head, went down one side of his face and dried up leaving a huge scab. Must have done it at night or something.

Silkiechicken-I would have obviously had a heart attack. I'm so sorry that happened to your beautiful roo but you handled it much better than I would have. I would have probably called my BFF Jennifer and had her come right over even if it was in the middle of the night. Boy she puts up with alot:)

Speckledhen-THANK-YOU SO MUCH FOR THE PICS!!!! I think that's what we've got here. It looks identical and we have some pretty unruly turkeys out there that I am probably going to eat early if they don't stop being mean to my babies. I will find out soon though!

Oh, my! Turkeys? They can do alot of damage to a chicken. My rooster Hawkeye was penned alone with a turkey three times his size. He had gouges on his comb and lots of scar tissue in one wattle due to being beat up by that turkey! Plus he was missing all his sickle feathers as well.

OK, the spots washed off mostly?!?!?!?!? Does fowl pox wash off at all? I just want to make sure but I am so very Thankful, I could have just layed down and died I was so happy! Thanks for all of your help (big HUG).

P.S. How early can you eat turkeys????
