black spots on hard boiled egg whites?

I boiled some store-bought eggs; definite black spots showed up on the egg whites, so I threw them all away, just to be sure. And I can't seem to find an answer as to what it might have been. Never had this happen before.

I came with a similar question. I hard boiled a couple of eggs. The eggs didn't float so I know it wasn't spoiled. When I took the shell off it looked like mold on the white on part of the egg. There was quite a lot of it (sorry I can't include a photo--don't have capability). It was a large area. At first I thought it was on the of the white but on closer inspection it was in part of the white. I've had odd things happen before including peeling a boiled egg and seeing feathers! Grossed out the whole family. But this is a new one.

Good morning, Had some one find the reason for black spots in white of a hard boiled egg yet/ It seems to be a mystery. Could it be mold?

If they were brown eggs I would bet its just some pigment coming through the porous shell, as someone stated upthread.

Personally, I wouldn't worry. When you boil eggs they get pretty hot for about 10 minutes. Should kill any bacteria. But if your water is bad, that's another story.

Bacteria/mold/aspergillus/something you probably don't want to eat. Before storing, wash thoroughly with antibacterial dish soap, 30 seconds, not 5, if you're washing and not going with the natural protection. I like to treat/ spray down my henhouse too from time to time just to be safe and especially if planning on hatchlings as many things can permeate shell during development, with a vinegar water mixture. Sometimes I spray down with hydrogen peroxide but you cannot mix the too. And don't forget, chickens eat all kinds of things, worms, frogs, lizards, most of which will not hurt us if we're not eating it directly. Clean your incubators too, never fun to buy eggs from someone that don't develop or hatch sick.
