Black spots on wattles!

If it is pox it will have to run its course but the way to treat and speed it up is to dab the spots daily with Iodine.

Hello All, This is a great site. I've just been reading the forms and posts. They are full of great information. I am new to this site and not sure how to or where to go to ask questions ( this was the only place I found to type anything)... and I have lots of questions since I've just become the proud new(adopted) mommy of 8 chickens and 1 rooster. They make me laugh so much...

I just discovered 1 chicken w a badly swollen eye... it could be even missing.

I also have noticed some black spots on some of chickens wattles.

Some chickens came w the new home and some are add-ons... that needed a new home.

The chicken coup had a section that was 4 pigeons but they were gone when we moved in.

We are located in central Ontario so the black spots could be a touch of frost bite... but the coup is insulated w hydro. Any and all advice is gratefully appreciated... 4 our chicks and also on how to navigate in BYC

Thanks so much, Take care.

I would not worry about the black spots. My opinion, but I know my hens had these early on and I worried and decided just to keep an eye on them. They are gone now and prabably were just skin damage from pecking, etc. That skin is unprotected and probably delicate....
