Soooo I have a question...

What would happen if I cross my first generation black star hens to my black mixed breed rooster Darcy? Would most if the chicks be black?

This is my rooster named Darcy:

And this is his mom Susan a Plymouth mix breed:

I know that black stars are black sex link and they are only truly black sex link in their first generation... I'm pretty sure that crossing the black sex link hens with Darcy should produce 50% black birds, 30% barred and 10% white since Darcy carries a recessive gene making some of his offspring white since his dad was a Light Sussex rooster... And Susan being related to Darcy means that most of his offspring are barred and the black star roosters of the first generation are also barred... So what would the second generation look like... 🤔

I'm hoping to do a hatch in the upcoming months but I was wondering what some of you might think? I'm sorry if some of my info happens to be incorrect.

Darcy is to barred so none of his progeny show Barring. Darcy Is heterozygous for the Extended Black e allele and the Wheaten allele, exactly the same as the blackstars. 25% should be solid black(homozygousExtendedBlac), 50% leaky blacks(Heterozygoous Extended Black) and 25% Wheaten(Yellow chick down)

You sure about that... This is his daughter and all of his other offspring have been barred or look like Darcy's dad which was a light Sussex

So would any of his offspring look like or similar to him?

Does Darcy looks barred to you? I can't see it on the pictures you posted. Barring is one of those genes that if you don't see it it's because it's not there. Unless for all white birds that can hide Barring and multiple other genes.
I never knew that... The only other hen that could have been his mom was my Australorp mix that passed away a few months ago🤔

Didn't look barred to me which I thought was strange because pic of his mom is a barred hen.
I never knew barred hens always produce barred roosters... Meaning that the egg I thought Darcy hatched out of might have actually been his twin which died after hatching. I think his mom might actually be my mix breed Australorp hen...

I always thought this chick was a hen... But now that I know barred hens only produce barred roosters this one is definitely a rooster in disguise
