Hello chicken experts!
I hope that this mystery can be solved. I bought 5 sex-linked, one-day old chicks (pullets) from Meyers Hatchery born on June 22, 2009. Three are red stars and 2 black stars. I think one of the black star pullets is actually a Roo. It is possible to make mistakes on sex-linked chicks?!!!
I am posting some pics. Forgive if I make mistakes.
Look at the 3 day old pics of Parvati and Padma. Parvati is on left, and is that a yellow spot on neck? Top of Parvati's head is black.
Now at 2 weeks old. From left to right: Gabby, Parvati, Padma, Ginny and Fleur.
At 4 weeks old, Parvati looks like a Roo or barred rock.
At 4.5 weeks old. Parvati on front. Padma at back.
Picture of Padma (I know she is a correct black pullet) for comparison. Curious red star is Gabby.
I also had the opportunity to look at feathersite.com on their black star pullets, and there is a black star pullet that is barred that they named "production black pullet"

CAN I BE HOPEFUL that my black star is a barred "PRODUCTION BLACK PULLET"?
Or is Parvati going to be dinner in another 4 weeks?
Thanks in advance....
