I got a mom and five babies ducklings today whichare supposed to be full swedish but, I would like to know for sure.

It may be the light but those look like mixes to me

They look brown to me. Does the one duckling have eye strips? I don't believe swedish ducks are suppose to have those

I would say not 100% pure bred - because of the duckling that looks like s/he has eye stripes and also because of the brown tinge to the mother's breast. Or, you could say that they are Black Swedish but with some faults. Where you hoping to breed from them?

They look like a lovely little family though :)

Yes one of them has eye strips. Nope not hoping to breed them just add them to my flock of pond decorations.;)

Well I'm sure they will do a wonderful job of adorning your pond

Ill try to get better pictures of them later today.

They could be pure black swedish, just poorly marked ones. I had some last year that were all pure, but each one that hatched (my hen hatched 6 of them) had eye stripes. Some had big white bibs like yours, and some had smaller, splotchy bibs. They were all pure black swedish, but just not quality marked ones. I sold all of mine and have decided to work on other breeds. I would not use yours for quality breeding, but they are perfect backyard/pond pets

I agree about the bibs - blotchy bib is just a fault, it definitely does not mean that the bird is not a pure bred Swedish.

My comments about perhaps not being pure bred related to the eye stripes and brown feathers only.

Agree that they will be wonderful pets. My Swedish are good foragers and are pretty easy going (for ducks) so I hope you find the same with yours :)
