Hi everyone. So I am trying to hatch quail eggs for first time. I started 5/15, this past Sunday. Last night there was a blackout from 8-11:30 pm in our street. I covered the incubator with a towel to preserve heat and watched the thermometer.

In that time the temperature went down to 78 which by then the electricity came back. Do you think the quail eggs survived? Will there be deformities? I know temperature is very important in the development of the embryos. Your observations are welcome. What are my chances of viable eggs? If not high I prefer to get more quail eggs and start again. Thank you.

While I've never incubated quail, my wife and i live in an RV and lost power repeatedly this winter, from a few minutes to a couple hours. It did not appear to substantially affect hatch rates - I had one late quit in 12, and two early fails in another 12. Those numbers are pretty typical for me, I can't say the power loss caused them. You should be fine.
