Blackshoulder

    I just got a new peacock ;) a blackshoulder but my 9 months old male didn't like it ;([​IMG]

    I have the new peacock in the cage until he get use to the area but I'm afraid that when I let him out of the cage my 9 month will start fighting with him ;(;(

    Looks like you have 2 boys there, since they were not raised together that could pose a problem, although 9 months is pretty young for major fighting over territory. If you are planning to free range both these guys you may want to get some hens or they may leave in search of mates.

    Mom her 2 nine months old hens and the boy ...which is nine months too and I just got the blackshoulder male today he is 3 years old ..

    That's good, you didn't mention them in that first post, so I didn't know. With the BS being 3 he will probably put the 9 month old in his place pretty quick. Once he gets used to the new surroundings and you let him loose, he will probably take up with Mom pretty fast and you could see some jealousy from the young ones. I always separate any chicks I am keeping from the moms before breeding season starts up again, but mine are mostly penned so that is easy.

    So I'm thinking about let him loose here before dark I don't know if that will be a good idea ? And my peacoks are free all the time I have never penned them ..I dont know if the 3 years old will hurt my 9 months old or scare him off ;(?!

    If you just got him today, he does not consider your property to be his home yet and he will likely leave to try to find his way back to his "home". We always recommend penning for a couple months before free ranging, so they can forget about the place they used to live.
