Shimmer was by the stream, drinking from the cool water that swirled around in many directions. After she finished, she went to the entrance of the cave and found Axel basking in the sun, half asleep. "Wake up, sleepy head! Wanna come with me to train? I have something very special planned for you," she said, grinning. Axel yawned and lifted his head up, still drowsy. "Huh? Oh, what is it?" he asked. "Well you're gonna have to get up and come with me to find out," Shimmer beamed. "Race ya to that rock over there!" She took off, running toward a large boulder at the edge of the clearing. "Wait up!" Axel called, jumping up and following Shimmer, hot on her heels. She barely beat him to the boulder. "You're getting faster," she panted. "One of these days, you might be as fast as me or maybe more. But enough about that. I have something to tell you." "What is it?" Axel asked, growing more curious by the second. "Is Angel gonna start teaching me how to hunt livestock yet? I'm itching to get at those cows on that farm that's just outside the forest, and so far all she's let me catch is rabbits and deer." "Well, that's up to her. You know I'm not good at hunting. Angel is a very skilled hunter, she will let you hunt those cows when you are ready. What I was going to tell you is I think that you're ready to learn how to fly," Shimmer replied. "WHAT?! YESSSSSSS!" Axel shouted, jumping around happily. "Hush, Axel, one of the Alphas is right over there, don't disturb her," Shimmer chuckled, looking at Axel and gesturing toward Scarlet. "Oops, sorry," Axel said, quieting down. "So when do we start?" "I will start having you work on your flying skills tomorrow," Shimmer said. "Today, though, I will train you like normal."
