I have a 7 week old chick who tore a claw. It's bleeding and the other chicks are picking at it. The chick does not seem to be in pain, but it won't stop bleeding. What should I do?

Hello

and Welcome to BYC!
Just clean of the cut with some water and paper towel, and I would put a small band-id on for now. If you want you could put this in the Emergencies / Diseases / Injuries and Cures forum for more help.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

You can use corn starch packed on the claw to stop the bleeding. Keep the bird in a separate place for about an hour until it stops and then you can mix her back in. You don't want others developing the habit of toe picking from this incident. In the future, corn starch is an excellent product to stop bleeding.

Enjoy your birds and welcome to our flock!
