I know this is an old post, just want to thank the poster who mentioned the plastic feeder issue. I wanted to offer another feeder in addition to the one in the coop, so I pulled out an older chick feeder. One of the girls started bleeding on the comb, and I am sure that was the issue as there was blood on the feeder, and it had been bitter cold the 2 days I had it out there. She's all healed up now, and no one seemed to notice and peck.
