Bleeding Egg

That article mentions waiting until the blood vessels recede. And then more waiting.

Agreed wait some more and put the egg so she's on her side, if she's upright she can't kick herself free because her body weight will hold her down. I put a small folded piece of paper towel under my chicks head like a pillow so it doesn't get a stiff neck also a bit behind the shell so it doesn't roll over to much. It just helps them a bit to kick free.

Ok, she's all situated now. I'll just wait and see. After checking on my broody, I realized only three have hatched out of 15, so far. It can't be due to incubation because some were under a hen and some in an incubator. Could it be something genetic causing these hatch problems? I've had problems hatching from this flock before. These eggs are fertile and atleast 12 made it to day 18, but it's day 23 and they aren't hatching.

If you can lamp them later then I'd do so and then consider leaving them for a couple more days, I leave mine to day 25 or when the broody leaves or kicks the eggs out. If any look dodgy then yeah remove them. I've gotta head out for about an hr but will check back when I'm back home. Hopefully your chick will be working her way outta her shell .

Thanks so much for your help!

She's resting a lot and still has half a shell on her but the blood is gone. She peeps loudly, so she is getting enough oxygen. I think she has a tiny bit of yolk left to absorb. She is trying to get out of her shell, but is having trouble. I'm going to wait as long as I can, and hopefully she'll hatch when she's ready. Good luck with your little one, too!

Glad she's doing ok, mine is also resting but still has some yolk to absorb, the bloods also pretty much dried up. Its a little weak but still active. At the moment its resting and dozing, its been a long tough hatch for this chick. I've added another warm damp piece of paper towel to help keep the membrane n egg from drying out. The chick seems happy enough so fingers and toes crossed all go's well.
