Bleeding Egg

I had set five eggs in the incubator and ten under a broody outside. I had a chick hatch in the incubator and he had no trouble and was perfectly healthy and strong. Many chicks have hatched under the broody outside. I took the other chick out of the incubator and put him with the hen outside. There's only one other egg in the incubator that I candled on day 17 and looked good. However, it shows no signs of hatching. Right now, my main concern is the chick that is still hatching. I'm going to wait until 10:00 and if the chick still hasn't advanced in hatching, I'll help him a little.

Ok I was just wondering if the entire hatch was slow or what the overall situation was. Sounds like you probably will need to help that one. Good luck!

Just because the egg's blood vessels are bleeding doesn't mean the chick is bleeding. I've had to help some chicks before and the blood vessels bled but the umbilical cord was dried up--so there was no way that blood was interacting with the chick at all. Only one time was the cord still intact! So, you probably didn't do any damage! But the chick might be dried in and need some help!
