I hatched 22 jumbo browns a little over 3 weeks ago. One was a white with the throw back spot on the back of its head. All was well till about a hr ago and I noticed blood spatter on the inside of 1 of the rubbermaid plastic brooders. The white is bleeding from the beak. Its enough to attract the attention of the rest and draw a few pecks. I separated the white and put it in a smaller tote and it has blood smeared on the sides of it now. If it lays still, the blood will drip off the tip of the beak. It has no visible wound. My birds have never seen another bird, there the only ones I have. I cant see it having a virus, where would it get in a spare bedroom all its life. Any suggestions? Bill

Looks to be coming from the inside of the beak. like tongue area. Nostrils are not bleeding. Mouth fills and drips from tip of beak. Has slowed now some.

Is this the only White you have? Others will pick on them. Could have gotten body slamed, have seen that.
If internal injuries from that though, I doubt there is much you can do, other than what you have.

I would clear off the blood from the sides of the big tub and keep a close watch on the rest though.

Can you use alum on birds to stop bleeding? I don't know.
Sorry, I am not much help.

Yes, its the only white I have. When its calm, the bleeding all but stops. But its very upset about be'in isolated. Every time it throws a little fit, calling and pace'in, the bleeding picks back up.... Kinda weird....Bill

It sounds like it is internal, it doesn't sound like there is much for you to do exept wait it out. Could it have gotten hit in the head?

You might want to put a barrier so it cannot at least see the other birds.

IF all is well in the morning, give it a hen to keep it company. But you may want to keep it separate to grow out.

It be'in the only white and different, it does get tested some. Its also one of my larger birds so it usually fairs well. They all got rowdy when i fed, right before I noticed the blood. I guess it could have got pecked\\slammed or beaten. I didnt want any whites and this one was a surprise. My grand daughter claims it now so if it dont make it, could be hell to pay... Bill

Perhaps A Injury From Either Being Biten By Another And Somehow Just Managed To Get The Inside Of The Mouth??? Or A Traumatic Injury That Has Chipped/ Cracked/ Broken The Tip Of The Beak Off? I Would Attempt To Assess The Bleeding Better To See Exactly Where It Is Coming From. If Its Broken The Tip Of Its Beak Off No Big Deal You Can Dab A Lil Cornstarch Or Even Flour On It To Help The Blood Clot And Stop The Bleeding... Obviously If It Has An Injury To The Soft Tissues In The Mouth Itself This Wont Work. Try To See If You Can Isolate The Exact Injury

It needs to bleed if it is internal, if not it could drown. Lets hope the wound bleeds out before it loses too much blood.
