Bleeding wing

Our jumbo pekin is bleeding on the tip of her wing. There isn't anything that got a hold of her and nothing to cut her in their box. Could the male done that to her? Or maybe she did it to herself while cleaning. Any ideas?

I have read about blood feathers being damaged and causing bleeding.

If you can take and upload a photo that may help.

I would get her into a tub of lukewarm water and see if the blood washes off. If it is a damaged blood feather, and the bleeding has not stopped, I think you need to pull it. I cannot advise exactly what to do, from experience, but there are instructions somewhere here, I think (do you know how to search the archive?)

If I recall correctly, one that won't stop bleeding is a serious problem.

You may also be able to stop the bleeding using flour or cornstarch, perhaps…just thinking out loud here.

Drakes have been know to pull out blood feathers. My one drake did this to one of his ladies a while back I used Blue Kote to disguise it till it healed. How old are they?
