2 days ago I had a chicken get pecked in both eyes and her head. I moved her to a pen alone and treated her wounds. Im not sure if she has eyes anymore really. She hasn't opened either since it happened.

She's doing pretty well and is perky but I'm struggling with getting her to eat. I tried something with a smell to it but she's just ignoring it. I know chickens are visual eaters so I'm not sure how to help her.

Ooh the poor dear. It does look as though her eyes are destroyed.:hitIf that’s the case, she’ll need a safe place to spend the rest of her days—within hearing but out of reach from the others. God love the precious thing ❤️I’m praying for you.

Welcome to BYC. Sorry a out your chicken. Is she new to the flock or having problems with her flock? Do you have a rooster? It can take a week or so to tell if her eyes are still intact, due to swelling. I would keep her eyes clean with saline eye wash, a $3 item found at most drugs stores. Also apply a small dab of plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment to the eyes twice a day. You can alao apply that to her skin wounds.

I would mix a small bowl of chicken feed, water, and add some egg, then later a little tuna, or wet cat food. Feed her that 3 times a day, holding the bowl up to her beak, and make sure there is lots of water. Hopefully when swelling goes down, you find that her eyes are intact, but they also may be missing or damaged. I hope she has a good outcome. Keep her separated in a dog crate with food and water inside the coop while she is recovering.

Welcome To BYC!

Poor dear!
I would flush the eyes with saline. If they are stuck together apply some warm compresses to help loosen them up. Apply an eye ointment like Terramycin or you can use plain Neosporin.

Chickens really don't smell, so you may need to syringe or hand feed her for a few days.
I would also give her a boost by direct dosing her with poultry vitamins. Wet feed is sometimes enticing. Bits of scrambled egg may interest her.

Any idea why the others attacked her? Is she new, has she been not feeling well? Does she lay eggs? Any lice/mites, worms, bloat or swelling of the abdomen?

Thanks guys. She's not a new chicken but she went into a new pen with 4 of her sisters. I guess the old girls were not a fan of her. I had an empty small coop like you get from tractor supply so she's in that alone now but next to some other girls, so she can hear them. It's actually the pen she was hatched in so maybe there's some comfort there. I hope so.

I made her some oatmeal and cat food mash this morning. She seemed interested but not really eating. I'll wet it down good and see if she'll drink it. She is drinking very well. Thanks for the prayers. I have about 40 chickens but I still hate to lose one. Poor girl even laid an egg for me today. Here's hopeing that's a good sign.
