Hi everyone - I grabbed a rather large egg from the fridge today (about a week and a half old) and when I cracked it, the yolk was brighter yellow than normal and there was what appeared to be a thick blood clot in the white of the egg - what causes this and is there reason for concern??
 
Sometimes when laying a small blood vessel in the hen breaks when she is laying leaving blood spots, and it is nothing to worry about. Here is one from one of my WL:
