Genetics is a funny thing. It can skip generations. But there was red in their ancestry, somewhere - on both sides.
My Dad had black hair. My mom had red hair (neither of her parents did). They had four kids: 1 brunette, two blondes and one redhead. But somewhere - there was a redhead in my father's ancestry - or that would not have happened.

Wifey is blonde. I'm brown, leaning auburn (well, salt and pepper now). we got 2 blondes and 2 browns. One of which was blonde until about 9.
