Yes, it's me again. This is my egg C. It was looking really good and growing. But I'm now seeing a red circle around it. I'm hoping you guys tell me it's my imagination or something and it can't be bacteria.

How is the egg sitting while incubated? Upright, or on its side? When the embryo dies and you get a blood ring, the ring is parallel to the surface the egg is sitting on, because it's just blood that is settling into a layer inside the egg. So if this egg is being incubated upright, the circle in the picture would not be a blood ring from the egg dying, because the orientation is wrong. But if sits on its side, then it could be. The dot of the embryo is still very well defined and clearly visible though, so it might be fine. Might be just the veins, which happen to look like a circle just from the way they are positioned. Give it a few more days and candle again.

Thank you. I hope so. I'm surprised because the picture from the day before had veins that had already spread out. Although I do remember from last year around this stage I stopped seeing the veins. These are brahma eggs so they're dark. I used a lighter background today so that could also be a problem I guess. I'm hoping tomorrow gives me a more positive view. 🤞

I want to really thank everyone that replied. You calmed a frantic mother-to-be and I learned a couple of things in the process.

Today the supposed blood ring is no longer there and the embryo seems to have grown. 😃 I can't thank you guys enough.

That's great news! Thanks for the update. Do update the thread when the chick hatches (or if anything else happens). It's very useful to others who find the thread, to see how this played out all the way to the finish line. It helps us all learn from each other's experiences.
