The scab I originally mentioned is healed. There was still blood in the semen when we milked him the second time. The male absolutely should not bleed when doing AI. Don't use him until his scab has healed all the way.

I would stop using him. Something isn't right or you're doing it wrong and damaging something. Why are you doing AI anyways? Just put the bird with the femalesThe scab I originally mentioned is healed. There was still blood in the semen when we milked him the second time.
We're creating bantam EE's. Using bantam roosters. We'll stop using him. Should I still get a video?I would stop using him. Something isn't right or you're doing it wrong and damaging something. Why are you doing AI anyways? Just put the bird with the females
Perhaps a newb question, is it that the bantam roo can't successfully mate with your EE?We're creating bantam EE's. Using bantam roosters. We'll stop using him. Should I still get a video?
Bantams can successfully mate LF birds. Really. It happens all the time. We're creating bantam EE's. Using bantam roosters. We'll stop using him. Should I still get a video?
This is what I was hoping for. They have been together their whole lives and we really hoped they would be able to fertilize the eggs. None of the eggs ever appeared fertile. We incubated them just to make sure, and nothing developed.Bantams can successfully mate LF birds. Really. It happens all the time.
Usually they are able to, but none of the eggs where ever fertile. My bantams have fertilized my LF hens eggs, but I guess these hens aren't making it as easy.Perhaps a newb question, is it that the bantam roo can't successfully mate with your EE?
Yes, get a video IF you are going to do another attempt with him. We're creating bantam EE's. Using bantam roosters. We'll stop using him. Should I still get a video?
He hasn't. Since she doesn't have any bantam hens we haven't been able to try. Hmm, I was concerned about that possibility. We've only gotten two eggs from the hens since the AI. Likely because of cold and stress I assume.Has the male in question fathered any chicks from any females? Put him with bantam hens and see if the eggs develop. It's possible he isn't fertile. Or that the females just don't like him.
