2 questions. 1) I was told to leave food out constantly while they’re babies. Do I keep doing this until they’re out of the brooder? Or do I continue to do this until they’re done being lock downed in the coop?

2) Freaked out when I saw some blood on their roost. I started treating with CORID yesterday but the blood seemed a little heavier than I would imagine for coccidiosis. Like it was just blood, no poop. But I checked the cam and it definitely came from someone’s butt! Could it be anything else? Pic attached. These are the six survivors from my original 11 and I really don’t want to lose anymore 😭

My guineas have access to food and water 24/7 from the time they are hatched and as long as they live. Their only access to food and water is in the coop.

I have seen some really big bloody messes in my coop. It usually comes from and injured foot or head. The only time that I treated one was when my lone Chocolate hen ripped the complete toenail and toe skin off of her middle toe. I cleaned it up, taped it in place and removed the bandages a couple of weeks later.

wow! Made me rewatch the cam and it does look like it could possibly be a foot cut but no ones nails are missing nor do I see a cut BUT the birds butt was the opposite direction when the blood started dripping. This is some mystery! Should I continue to look for an injury?

If the bleeding has stopped, I would not worry about it. If it continues, you need to find out where it is coming from.

That’s some pretty frank blood! What do their droppings look like? It does look more like an injury than bloody poop to me... Mine are great at injuring their toe nails, and I did have two juveniles go at it and bloody each other’s heads...🤷‍♀️
