one of my hens has been laying eggs with blood inside we do not have a rooster? what is wrong?

It is normal I think, for a little blood to get in. But if it is happening everytime for a while I would post it in Emergencies section of the forum. Is she a new layer?

I was also finding blood in a couple eggs from time to time, but it was never more than a tiny spot that you could fit twenty of on the head of a pin. I take it this is not abnormal?

It is not abnormal. It usually happens when the yoke separates, sometimes a blood vessel ruptures and a blood spot forms and travels with the yoke as the egg forms around it. Some hens are prone to this happening. The eggs are fine to eat, in fact most of the blood spots disappear as the egg sits and ages.

It was more then a spot, and it was in her last say 8 eggs, I eat eggs alot. I would say a few were 1/4 blood then the rest was about a quarter size.

Sorry she is a yr old, and is one of our best layers, so this is what concerns me.

Yes the amount is a concern, especially with an older hen. Off the top of my head I might try boosting the potassium in her diet. May not cure her, but potassium helps with blood clotting. I think I need to do some more reading.
