I just want to know if this is blood and if I should be concerned. I feel like I've seen their poop look slightly orange before on occasion but I'm on extra alert because we just lost a pullet to some sort of respiratory infection and we have another in sick bay so I'm looking at anything as a warning sign right now. Should I be concerned?
And while we're at it, is extremely runny white poop a warning sign for anything specific. Obviously diarrhea is never a good sign but there's a difference between an animal eating something it shouldn't have and an animal slowly dying of parasites...
Additionally, the pullets poop a lot on the lid to the container we keep their food in. When I take the lid off and put it on the floor, several often surround the lid and begin picking the poop off and eating it. What gives? Should I be preventing them from doing this? (I don't see how I would) Does this mean they're bored? Hungry? Is this normal behavior? I have many questions.

That appears to be intestinal lining. If that's the last you see of this, then you can assume this is just normal shedding. But keep an eye out for more. Excessive intestinal shedding can indicate an intestinal bacteria that is eroding the intestinal lining as it marches through your chicken, and it would require an antibiotic.

Of course, you will need to figure out which chicken it came from.

About the poop on the food container lid and everywhere else. The more poop that accumulates over time, the more bacteria your chickens immune systems are required to deal with, and you risk having more than your share of illness in your flock.
