I noticed blood in the poop of my baby chicks yesterday and this morning 2 were dead. After I removed them I saw more fresh blood but can't find which one or how many is doing it out of almost 50 chicks. They are 2 weeks old with plenty of fresh water and medicated chick starter. There are a lot in their cage but still not too crowded.
Anyone have a clue what this is and how do I treat befor I loose more?

The most common answer would be cocci. With that many chicks, I'd assume that to be the answer. Typically, Cocci presents with lethargy first, though. Still, I'd put them all on a course of Corid or Sulmet immediately.

Make sure their brooder is VERY VERY dry - chicks can spill water easily, and 50 chicks' poop is a lot to keep after...dry is the best pevention for Cocci. Good luck! Hope you don't lose any more!!

It's probably too late for that. Medicated feed doesn't treat cocci. It just enables the bird's immune system to prevent it better. It's time for actual meds now.

Coccidiosis - you can find it by searching on BYC also.

As indicated above, DRY DRY DRY is the best thing for prevention.

I could not see any chicks showing lethargy. They were all running around when I refilled their feeders. Still think it is cocci?
Going to call my farm store now and see if they have any of the meds already recomended on this thread.
Thanks for everyones fast responses so far! Yall are amazing!
