Lobzi, I will tell you, it makes for a very interesting read. I appreciate your honesty. Not many people would have let us in on their dirty little secrets. Just kidding, sounds like he has a Mom that loves him very much. Who are we to judge what is normal behavior. We are dealing with chickens, nothing is normal.

Lobzi, I hope you are not beating yourself up over how he is. He is not suffering. Maybe not leading what we consider a "normal" chicken life, but so what, it's normal in your chicken's mind. Perhaps at times a burden for you, but not him.

And, SO glad to hear he cleared up, that's really why I followed the thread, I did not want to find out he had cancer or something!

Seems like I read somewhere on this forum about a roo who was "in love with" a teddy bear. Too bad that owner didn't happen by.

Roo + cock fighting = entertainment

Most-likely that is what I rescued him from (someone's entertainment) the night I found him running down the sidewalk in front of me as I was walking home from school. The area I found him in is known for raising roos for such sport. I saved him from being someone's entertainment I betcha! All I wanted was to care for him the best I knew how and was able. Not set up for raising a chicken and no other chickens to house him with, we were on our own. I carried him to work/school with me each day and the kids and faculty played with him and we all cared for him. I had an old refrigerator box in my living room where he slept. At that time I though he was a pullet. Others encouraged me to get a companion chicken and that he (she) needed a roo for protection. I got a roo, a very nice Favorolle. Unfortunately Chickie turned out to be a roo too and it wasnt long before the two ceased to get along. I was forced to separate them. Now I was desperate to get some hens for my boys. A lady who runs a horse stable had chickens so she gave me two what she though were hens. One of the two turned out to be a roo. So now I have three roos and one hen. With my hen's help, actually it is all her doing, Im increasing my flock and hoping for a lot of pullets from her. In the meantime, Im juggling them the best that I can to make this work so I dont have to give up any of my babies. I love them all!

Oh was a cutie pie I would have scooped him up too. I am so glad he has cleared up. Like I said in my earlier post...a slight injury or rub against something could easily have bruised him and caused the blood.

Well done in taking care of him.
