Blood in the yolk!

I cracked an egg to use in dinner and there was a lot of blood! It was half the size of the yolk! Is my chicken ok? Yuck!

There are not too many reasons why there are bloody yolks. Do you have any cocks? This could have to do with fertility. Things like blood spots are either hereditary or caused by old hens. The oviduct of a chicken is free of blood vessels but sometimes it can rupture. A lack in vitamin A can also be something you want to watch. Did you worm her or anything similar? When people vaccinate with stuff like Ivermectin it's not a good idea to eat the eggs anyways
