Crazy chicken here!! Little hen still sitting I've been trying to listen at the side without disturbing her. If you look in she growls and you can't hear anything. Not heard a perp yet but it's day 20 so hopefully tomorrow will hear something. Missed her getting if the nest today so didn't get a look at the eggs today.

How's DH? Somewhat better I hope?

thanks for the happy 4th. Tom is not better, not worse though. I picked all my broodys up today and found 2 more. up to 6 now. 4 seramas maybe 5 and a cochin mix.

it's day 20. Missed her getting if the nest today so didn't get a look at the eggs today.

None of my broodies get off the eggs the last 2/3 days. Thats how I know they are fixing to hatch---without writting down dates.

Maybe she will be a little longer then. She had def been down today as i cleaned the poop up from her run last night and there is another pile today so she's been down. I'm not keen on this not been able to see the eggs like in the incubator!! Just hope something hatches for her and she makes a good mother. I'm more nervous with this than the bator. She's in a coop and run combined together with a ramp down. When she's ready to get off of something hatches should I lift the chicks down or do you think they will just follow. Can't decide if the ramp will be too steep for them.


Granny at least Tom is not worse even though he's not better. Staying the same is better than going backward in his recovery. Great news on the broodies!

Any thing yet ? they will try to follow her down the ramp but thats not to say they could still fall off. I dont THINK a couple feet would hurt them. any more then that and i would take them off.

Way to go granny! That's great on the chicks, 7 extra additions for you there then.

The little hen has at least one chick, I checked on her and she fluffed up and out popped a little blue chicks head from under her
It was dry and fluffy so must have been hatched a while. It's the only one I saw though so I'm not sure about the other eggs.

Ramp is not too high then I don't think but will try to catch her when she wants to come down just incase.
