blood ring or blind

Morning ! for another 7 min. anyway. its still hot but the rain has slowed . things are drying out . still cant figure out what to do with my seramas. I am stumped. There are 2 little sisters I just about cant stand the thought of parting with. I worked so hard to get a small flock of them and now wish i hadnt.

Good things are drying out for you. This rain is a pain but we could do with some for the grass. Harry horse just has non left in his field. Eaten it all off and it was starting to go a yellow colour. Hoping this rain is going to green it up a bit. Then maybe I can cut down on my hay bill for a bot at least.

Have you thought about keeping your seramas has house chickens? Many do and I believe that's how they started out in Malysia I think. They were bred to be indoor ones. I'm guessing it's the cold that bothering you with them. If they are indoors that should be better for them.

I have thought about the 2 sisters but my son is allergic to feathers. The babies are still in the house only because i cant figure out how to keep their temps. steady. 90 in the day so may get too hot then 70 at night.

If you can't have electric out to keep them warm how about some kind of hot water bottle or heating pad? For them over the winter. As for the chicks that's up and down with the temps isn't it how old are they now? When the temps were in the 90's here and my chicks were smaller I didn't give them heat as they were too hot and they lived. Feathered out much quicker too. And they were off the heat altogether by 3 weeks. They did have a couple of night too where they didn't have any at all as the bulb in the lamp blew and I didn't have time to get another so they just had the Eco blow in and they didn't use it. Was certain they would croak but not to be.

I've found a home for the blue splash roo :yesss: A lady from down the road has been to see him this afternoon and she is taking him in about 3 weeks when she has her new coop and run set up. She is also going to have 3 of the chicks when I know for sure what are pullets. So hopefully if all goes to plan that is 4 down from my 40 that I have out in the garden. I'm hoping when he has gone that I can try and get the little hen and her chicks back in with the other girls.

I cant use heating pad without electric. hehee hot water bottle , that would get cold in less then half hr. the babys are from 2 weeks to a month maybe ? not sure. they are still fuzzy. just watched weather. close to 100 in a few days . they are saying we are having 90s high and 60s low. and thunderstorms of course. Im glad you found a buyer for your roo.

morning !! another hot day on tap here. 90s again. I am melting. very happy my air was fixed. wish it worked in the van as well. some one needs to invent cold air clothes. wouldnt need air conditioners anymore. I have seen heated socks and towels that are supposed to keep you cool. maybe i will buy a ton of towels and make a dress ! hahaa oh well, hows you? babies getting big ? My chickens are either ill or suffering from the heat. runny nose, tired then dead. I have lost 3 so far. different coops too. I had suspected crd in there but this is not the same. I sure dont know what to do with them now. I cant cull those little seramas . oh, who am i kidding ? I cant bring myself to cull any seems like. I am afraid of the winter and falling again. I will be in a wheel chair if i do and that seems to be the place where i go down the most. Very depressing. I will figure it out sooner or later. Hope you have a great day !

Hi there!! Oh today has been a bag of poo!! Hassle with the business and one thing and another. Have just sat down and it's 9pm. Ready for my bed today I am. Took my Mum today to get a couple of red sex links to add to the 3 I gave her so that was nice and a break from all the rubbish. Got chatting to a great chicken guy who was selling the sex links. Had lots of birds and very knowledgable too. She has named the new ones Winnie and Brenda. The ones I gave her are called Stan, Dorris and Margaret.

Weather not good here. Has not stopped raining pretty much since Sunday lunchtime some of your warm would be great if you could send it over!! Not the 90's though just some warm. Chicks doing well and growing. Eating me out of house and home right now. Will never make money at this rate.

Runny nose I would say resp infection? Generally if one gets it they all do or become carriers of it. Antibiotics are your best bet if you can but it would mean treating the entire flock. I don't have the guts to cull either I get the other half to do it for me. I'm chicken when it comes down to it.

Maybe time to downsize your flock ready for the winter? I know that would be a very hard thing to do but you have to think of your health granny. Maybe have a set up then where you can get to without fear of falling. A smaller number of birds would be an easier set up for you. A hard call I know but something to consider. I have to say I'm not looking forward to the winter either. We've only had a few days rain here and it being a bit chilly and my knees are killing me. Winter will be bad this year just know it.

I'm having trouble with a frizzle hen too ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1009346/feather-loss-only-quils-remaining/0_30
Any thoughts?

Are you getting your mom hooked ? LOL next thing you know she will be out doing you. I wish you did have at least 10 degrees of this heat. is it always cool where you live. ? what is your hot in summer ? The chick didnt have the runny nose til after it was dead. (as far as i know) we caught it as soon as it died. I do need to downsize. I just dont know how. I left comment on your frizzled hen. I have my air set on 71 in the house and its 78 in here.

I'm hatching Guineas which take 26-28 days however at least three are rocking and it's only day 19. Temps have been spot on the entire incubation. I guess I should lock down???? Help never hatched Guineas before only chickens!
