Im back !! lol the egg i put in on the 28th is getting close to lockdown. I also have 2 more in there from the 7th and the 9th. they both have spiders at the very top starting. the one on the 28th has me a bit worried. it is pretty full and dark although i can still see thick vein at the top but i didnt see movement. I would think with that bright flash light on it i should of seen something move. I didnt keep it out but a few seconds so i am hoping i just missed it. the 2 "buddys" i bought for the serama that died is cute as a button.
Glad your back! Your egg sounds ok. Because the egg is so full you sometimes don't see movement. A good strong vein is also good. Those chicks are so cute in the wicker carriage. I can't wait for spring over here. I'm having incubation withdrawal symptoms :cd
thanks, We just got our first snow. LOL I am doing it backwards. I didnt use the bator all yr. til these seramas and i got so excited over them i went and bought that second one so not to interrupt the process.
I was thinking of doing the New Year hatch a long. I just have to convince the other half but then again if I get the bator out and set up and running I could have eggs set before he's home from work.
He tries to keep me in check with incubating or I would literally have it going all the time.
it is my favorite part but I hate bringing them in and getting over run and just have to take them back out. now that hurts. my husband actually encourages me to do it. I am not sure if its because he likes to fuss about the cost of feed or he knows how much i like.
I have all the water wells filled and a white sock in the bator with the one little egg. the humidity is showing 52 % there is no condensation on the window but surely it has to be higher then that? its showing 42% in my new one and it is dry. do i need more water in there? is there such a thing as too much at this point? it is day 18 . was put in on the 28th. just wonder since its the only egg if i should add another sock? I have the sock on one end and the egg and the humidity reader on the other.
well, I mucked up. when i started the incubators I tested them against 3 thermometers and calibrated the temps and humidity. all 3 were on with eash other and i removed 2 of them never checking it again. this is in my lock-down bator. the question about the humidity got me wondering and when i opened the bator it just didnt feel right on my hand. I retested again and the one I had left in there was 10 degrees off. the temp has been too low not allowing the hatch. this egg has been in this since yesterday evening. I didnt candle. figured if its still alive its been cold long enough.
