Sorry I forgot that bit I get carried away waffling on other things.
Yes it does usually mean too high humidity during incubation. For the air cell to grow the egg needs to lose enough moisture. I find 45% adequate day 1-18 then 65% for lockdown.
The above link is good article on hatch failures.
Can the type of egg, egg/shell, size of egg effect that? Like I said, I had 13 hatchers with no "humidity problems" and that one egg, that was bigger than the rest to the extent the chick still had room inside, had a good amount (it wasn't overflowing, or half full, just very noticeable). Could it have been because of the size of the egg and/or thickness of the shell that it didn't release enough moisture when all the others did? One of the other three that died in the shell had internally pipped but was shrinked wrapped and never made it to external pip. I did the dry hatch and kept a close eye on the air cells they looked good to me.

Yes the egg has an affect on hatch rates. As you say you just had the one that had fluid in it. That egg could have been less pourous than the others therefore not letting enough moisture to escape the egg. Where as a very pourous egg would let too much escape.

To have a successful hatch everything has to be at the optimum level to achieve this.

Thank you. That would explain it.

in the beginning of incubation the water would disappear every other day. it was going between 35-45 and i was having to add so maybe. thank you again for your help. it means a lot to me.

this last chick is not active at all and I am wondering if i should hunt a buddy or not. it is still learning to breath. thin blood vessels.

the one chick is still alive but not ready to meet the world yet. he is breathing ok and the vessels are starting to recede . chirp is a little louder then before. I will have to finish the hatch because he is not in the right position to do so. I just hope i pick the right time. he is moist and breathing so i am thinking of waiting til the morn.

i am really stumped now. the blood vessels did recede last night and i put the chicken in a position so all it had to do was kick out. as of this morning it is still alive and still laying where i left it at 11:00 pm. it must be too weak to even do that so i dont know if i should wait til it dies or finish the hatch ?

I just finished the hatch. it was not too early or too late.

I did have to cut the umbilical but no blood. I sterilized every thing and put some antibiotic on after. the INNER membrane was stuck to one side of the chick. if this caused it to not finish hatch then it is very weak indeed. i have it in a rolled paper towel for now. I have some Hope, hope it gets stronger, hope it lives, .....LOL
