blood ring or blind

the brown egg didnt make it and not sure that last white one is going to or not. the white one has tons of veins here on day 21 and i am not sure if i see movement or not. the brown egg was a first for me. was alive and trying to do the internal pip this morning but had died this evening. what i found was weird to me. it was ready for the internal pip, but it was coated in egg yolk. I thought maybe it had pipped through its own yolk but nope, that was intact and still attached as it should be so my guess would be it was a double yolker. pipped into the second yolk and drown. so as far as i can tell just these 3 polish mixes is what i will end up with and they are doing well.

Sorry you lost your brown one granny :hugs could your white one be just a little behind the others? With seeing all the veining that would point me towards it being a little delayed. Good luck with those polish mixes will be interesting to see the White bits on them are they more top knotty?

How are those shipped seramas doing or are you holding off on the candling with them?

I've just got woken up by a FOX yapping at the front of the house!! Oh my god the cheeky thing. Two nights previous one was walking down the street too. It seems to becoming over run at the minute. So I have just been out in PJ's and dressing gown and boots to check the coops. Thankfully I don't think its been in the garden but will be doing a full perimeter check once we have daylight.

I just cant tell about their tops, they are sticky too. humidity? looked at the last egg a couple times. cant tell if its been dead for a while and liquid is moving or if its alive.? seem to be having a liquid problem here. they all went in on the 18th i mark them but not saying if it was the first or last one laid. Think maybe 3-4 of the seramas have spiders. really shocked on that one. I love the look of foxes but never been around any. they are here but i have seen some killed on the road. we have several bob cat sightings here. what time is it there? is 1:11 am and way past my bedtime. LOL

Sticky chicks would suggest too high humidity during incubation yes. Foxes are a nice looking thing but not when they are eating my chickens!! They have no natural predator here so they are at the top of the food chain and are getting out of hand. They are not my cup of tea. There is also a surge in urban foxes in cities that are going into people homes and attacking babies and children totally out of hand. I have lost my entire flock before to a fox but not again. Security is ramped up with extra locks and bolts and everything double checked at night time. I wouldn't mind if they took one because they are hungry but they kill everything and maybe take one and leave the rest.

It's 6-15 am here now heard the fox at 5-30 am. The other was spotted at midnight down the street.

Good luck with those seramas sounds very promising.

the baby chicks have dried for the most part and not much of a top at all. seems to be set back father on the head then a polish would . Little surprise this morning. the last egg is rocking and has a pip. these guys went into lock down too early because of the new eggs and i went ahead and added water . so i messed up but dont explain a day 22 hatch. mine have always hatched early. all the thermometers i have read the same. I have to wonder if its not the bitter cold we are having. no predator for a fox? yikes !

Morning riverman ! cheep incubators make for bad eggs for sure. I have tried. my day 19 chicks seemed to be healthier then these day 22? guess i just cant make it meet in the middle. my house is cold and nothing i can do right now. I have a good furnace suppose to be any way. rated to do 2 x the space i have and just a few yrs old w/ a heat pump but it just aint getting it . 64 in here this morning.

Hey Granny------as much as you like Hatching, why don't you set-up a hatching room, closet, small room that you can control the temp in---no matter what the rest of the house is. You do not have to keep this room real hot---just steady.

Congrats granny :celebrate
Hope that last one gets out ok :fl So what will be next to hatch? Lockdown would have been ok a little early some people stop turning on day 14 and then put humidity up at 18-19. By day 14 they are pretty much fully formed. The first two weeks of incubation are more critical for turning.

Yes no predator for them :somad
