Blood ring?

The egg has been on its side!
Upright with the fat end up? Should I turn the egg? and if so, how often?

I have a cheap incubator with no brand really - put a thermometer and hygrometer inside and temp.+humidity are kept constant pretty well!

Thank you for all your help! A bit frazzled as there's only 2 eggs in right now and if this dosent hatch the other would be alone🥺
Ok! Yeah. I would incubate it upright for a bit. Make sure the turner (if your incubator auto turns) is off. Then, you can cut rings out of a toilet paper tube and use those as stands. They work pretty well. You can tip it back and forth in the stand a few times a day. That will suffice for turning.
I hope they both hatch! How is the air cell in the other egg? You might want to incubate that one upright too.
If only one hatches, you could buy another chick to raise with it.

Its been incubating for a day upright and the aircell(?) seems to be on the pointy end now? or am i wrong and thats not the air cell?

1st 2 pics is the egg in question - 3rd pic is the other egg for reference.

You're incubating them with the fat end up, right?
That is where the albumen (or egg white) is. Not the air cell. 😊

yes fat end up! hmm then no aircell that i can see on the egg yet - would it take a few more days to correct itself?

Sorry to piggyback, set my 2nd ever hatch 4 days ago, and never seen a blood ring before. My last set had 2 yolkers so I knew those were duds but this is a blood ring I'm looking at, right? I know I should give it more time, but also paranoid about rotten eggs exploding in my bator. Set 18 eggs, 14 show plenty of veining and the dark eye. 3 look like yolkers, and this one I think is a blood ring?

How many days along are these eggs? 4 you said?
That looks like the usual blood island that forms around the embryo.

Yes, they were set early morning around 4am (I don't sleep) on the 22nd. I just saw circle and thought, my first blood ring? The possible yolkers I should give a week or so? Thank you for replying! They're call duck eggs from a local farmer, not shipped, I was reading about the detached air cell in this post and was wondering!

it looks good to me - dosent look like a blood ring!

But I would recommend sitting it upright in the incubator if you're not already.

My egg's aircell eventually stabilized but it was too late i think - stopped developing halfway :(
