It happens yes. But if you keep an eye on those ones you thought were bad you should be able to grab them as soon as they are for certain dead. My eggs looked similar to what you pictured but had veins I couldn’t see the veins in you picture which was why I asked. About 4-5 days later they looked pretty normal for eggs. Hopefully yours will do the same.

If they go bad won't they get a funky color of grey on the outside of the shell too?

after several days yes. they will also feel cold much faster than an egg with a living duckling growing in it.

Also usually befo r you get to that point you will see gray areas on the shell. If those show up fast disposal. I agree on waiting.

I've had a lot of rotten eggs with no signs of blemishing on the outside of the shell. I agree, I'd wait a few days and look for any development in the egg or veins starting to pop up, Sometimes it is pretty hard to see the veins in the egg especially from a picture point of view.

I agree on waiting a few more days. As many as I’ve hatched, I’ve not “yet” had an eggsplosion. I think that happens to people that just don’t pay attention. If you are hand turning, you will smell bad odor before anything bad happens too.
I would definitely keep a close eye on those eggs though. I have a couple now that looked similar, but they surprised me and are still growing. I think sometimes things get hidden in the center of the egg and fool us. Pics are sometimes hard to be certain on too. I’d rather keep it in, until you are sure it’s no longer viable. When that happens, it will be more obvious to you. It’s still early.
