This morning I noticed that my 9.5 week old buff orpington had a bloody beak. I realized it was because of a bloody bump on her beak - I couldn't tell what it was but maybe she got pecked or injured herself on something? I wiped her off and then when I came home today, it looks mostly clotted but the dark bump is still there. I took some pictures of it but wasn't sure if I should try to do anything further since it hasn't seemed to effect her at all.

What kind of wire is your cage made out of? I had some birds that liked to "run the wire", all the time they did this they would bump their beaks on the wire. Those in 2x4 and 1x2 wire were slower to develope these "scars", but one I had in a pen of hardware cloth made quite the sore on her beak before I moved her to a new pen. It was as if she had been running it on sandpaper....

Oh the sides of the run is made of hardware cloth, that could be it. I have some grape vines growing outside of the run which she may be trying to get to. I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have them so close then. thanks everyone!
